Mental Illness Awareness Week

Thank you for sharing this journey of awareness and action with us. If you or someone you know is struggling or in crisis, help is available Call or text 988 or chat 988lifeline.org to reach the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.

As we transition from Suicide Prevention Awareness Month we enter into Mental Illness Awareness Week; a movement officially recognized by congress since 1990. The data surrounding suicide is staggering. Suicide is the 2nd cause of death among people aged 10–14 and the 3rd leading cause of death among people aged 15-24 in the U.S. 1 in 6 U.S. youth aged 6-17 experience a mental health disorder each year. But there is always hope. There is a large gap between the number of people thinking about suicide and the number who die by suicide. That means there are opportunities to provide understanding and support. The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) has produced resources for all of us to share. Take action today by amplifying these resources and join us at an Out of the Darkness Walk this month.

We send you all love, acceptance, grace, compassion, and worthiness.

With gratitude,

Friends of Hayward Public Montessori
